Today
is February 8th. It's my birthday today. Life is passing by so quickly that
it's hard to believe that only twenty years have passed. The changes in life
have been so rapid that in just two decades, technology has taken over
everything. Even ten or fifteen years ago, life was limited, not broad. Now
that simple life has been lost in the glare and intercultural onslaught.
Today
is also the day of general elections in Pakistan. The 2024 elections, in which
the sounds of rigging, coercion, and promises are echoing. Since we belong to
Gilgit-Baltistan, and by the grace of Allah, our current state is like that of
"Abdullah the Madman at a Stranger's Wedding." My vote was not cast,
and it is a strange coincidence that I am currently living in the twin cities.
Therefore, I have no direct role in the election of the Prime Minister or the
filling of the National Assembly. As a spectator, I can only pray:
O
Allah! Make whoever is sincere to Pakistan successful. Fill the National
Assembly with his supporters. Let those people who have bad intentions and
habits have no chance. The election of such people is neither in the best
interests of Pakistan+Gilgit-Baltistan nor can their election be of any help to
the Muslim Ummah.
O
Allah! Whoever becomes the ruler of Pakistan, give him the ability to go beyond
the mere "we are Pakistanis" and make Gilgit-Baltistan a full
"Pakistani". Otherwise, how long will our people remain "madmen
at strangers' weddings"?
I
also pray for those people who, for the sake of someone else's victory, take
offense at their loved ones and friends or get into trouble with a stranger.
May Allah give them wisdom, understanding, and the spirit of humanity.
