A "Spicy" Religious Story

 The land of stories is never short of intriguing news. Every line on every page, morning and evening, speaks of how using the religious corridor makes you holy. No matter how many your flaws, shortcomings, or weaknesses are exposed, you will not be held accountable. The unconditional support of big "facilitators" will be readily available to you. This is because you wear a garment of grandeur; once this attire becomes associated with your personality, it provides lifelong protection.

The reward for being connected to religious knowledge and serving the religion of Islam is honor, esteem, fame, and reverence, even if one is not a worthy human being, does not follow God, and is not personally devoted to the religion.

The general attitude of our society today remains exactly the same as it was a hundred years ago. The person who takes the name of God, manages to memorize two or three sayings (Hadith) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and becomes familiar with the strategy of constantly utilizing religion, becomes the "saint" of the age even if they are not truly one.

Now, any direction this person points towards, or any pattern of behavior they describe, becomes a certified truth, and people flock together, eager to attain various levels of reverence and respect. Specifically, people place extreme "trust" in individuals wearing religious garments. May God protect us all from a situation where this two-sided approach is expressed in the act of "exploiting religion."

I believe that instead of "learning" religion from someone else, one should strive to learn it oneself; the religion should be read repeatedly, understood, and even savored sip by sip. Only then can one perhaps truly sway (with devotion) by invoking the name of Ali (A.S.). Otherwise, just aimlessly swaying can only be "a dance, a jig, and a mere wiggle," not true "Malangi" (a state of spiritual abandonment/devotion).

ایک چٹ پٹی سی ”مذہبی“ کہانی

کہانیوں کے دیس میں چٹ پٹی خبروں کی کوئی کمی نہیں ہوتی۔ صبح و شام کے ہر صفحے کی ہر لکیر بیان کرتی ہے کہ مذہبی راہداری کا استعمال آپ کو مقدس بناتی ہے۔ لاکھ آپ کی کوتاہیاں ہوں، لاکھ آپ کی خامیاں ہوں اور لاکھ آپ کی کمزوریاں پکڑی جائیں پھر بھی آپ کا مواخذہ نہیں ہوگا، بڑی سہولت کے ساتھ بڑے”سہولت کاروں“ کا غیر مشروط تعاون آپ کو حاصل ہوگا۔ اس لئے کہ آپ کے بدن میں وہ لباسِ فاخرہ ہے کہ یہ لباس ایک بار آپ کی شخصیت سے جُڑ گیا تو پھر عمر بھر کا سامانِ تحفظ فراہم کر گیا۔ علمِ دین سے نسبت اور پھر مذہبِ اسلام کی خدمت گزاری کا صلہ عزت و تکریم اور شہرت و تعظیم کی صورت میں ملتا ہے، اگرچہ لائقِ انساں بھی نہ ہوں، پیروی یزداں بھی نہ ہوں اور مذہب پر آپ خود قرباں بھی نہ ہوں۔ ہمارے معاشرے کا عمومی رویہ آج بھی وہی کا وہی ہے جس کی شبیہ آج سے سو سال قبل موجود ہے۔ جس نے خدا کا نام لیا، رسول اللہ(ص) کی دو تین حدیثوں کی رٹا ماری کا شرف حاصل کیا اور مذہب کو روز روز استعمال کرنے کی کی حکمت سے آشناء ہوا، وہ نہ ہوتے ہوئے بھی زمانہ کا "ولی" بن جاتا ہے۔ اب یہ شخص جس سمت کی طر ف اور جس رُخ کا بھی قرینہ بیان کرے وہ سند بن جاتا ہے اور لوگ جوق در جوق تعظیم و تکریم کے کئی کئی درجات حاصل کرنے میں مگن رہتے ہیں، خاص طور پر مذہبی لبادے میں ملبوس افراد پر ”بھروسہ“ انتہاء کا کیا جاتا ہے۔ اللہ ایسی صورتِ حال سے ہم سب کو بچائے جب دو طرفہ روش کا اظہار ”مذہب کو استعمال “ کرنے میں ہو۔

میرا ماننا ہے کہ مذہب کو کسی اور سے ”سیکھنے“ کے بجائے خود ہی سعی کی جائے، مذہب کو بار بار پڑھا جائے، سمجھا جائے بلکہ گھونٹ گھونٹ پیا جائے تو شاید علی(ع) کا نام لے کر جھوم سکتے ہیں وگرنہ خالی خولی جھومنا ”ناچ، ڈانس اور تھرکنا“ ہی ہوسکتا ہے ”ملنگی“ نہیں۔
